How to Play Pyramid Solitaire

Learn the rules of Pyramid Solitaire

Objective

Remove all cards from the pyramid by pairing cards that add up to 13. Kings (value 13) are removed on their own.

The Layout

  • Pyramid — cards arranged in a triangle (7 rows for Single, 9 for Double)
  • Stock — draw cards to find pairing options
  • Waste — the top waste card can be paired with pyramid cards

Card Values

  • A=1, 2=2, ... 10=10, J=11, Q=12, K=13
  • Drag one exposed card onto another so they sum to 13 (e.g., 6+7, 5+8, Q+A)
  • Click a King to remove it by itself
  • Cards are exposed when no cards overlap them from below

Tips & Strategy

  • Remove Kings immediately — they block cards beneath them
  • Plan which pairs to remove to expose cards deeper in the pyramid
  • Single Pyramid allows one pass through the stock — no recycles; Double allows two
  • The waste card can pair with pyramid cards — don't forget it
